Not many people can resist a visit to the Virgin Islands. This is a once in a lifetime experience for many people. When planning a visit, one of the most important things to take into consideration is just the right time to visit. There are times of the year where this is a desirable location and times of the year where it isn’t.

Ideally, it is always best to visit the Virgin Islands in April, May, and June. These are the months where the daytime temperature is the best, and there is minimal rain. Compared to other times of the year, it is less crowded between April and June, making it a more desirable time to visit for those who want to avoid the worst of the crowds.

Those visiting between December and March will find that the daytime temperature hovers in the 70s and 80s most days. At this time of year, evenings bring a refreshing breeze that may even require a light sweater or jacket. However, this is also the time when the highest number of visitors descends upon the Virgin Islands.

Some people choose when to visit based on when certain events are held. For example, the St. Thomas Carnival is a big draw for tourists and takes place every April and May. It includes calypso shows along with various pageants. Two separate parades are also held as part of the carnival. Attendees will also be able to enjoy fireworks and a food fair during this month-long celebration.

Another popular time to visit is during June and July, thanks to the St. John Carnival, which takes place in Cruz Bay. Few other yearly events in the Virgin Islands are as high profile as this one. It is a celebration of freedom and life that includes parades, dancing, and parties. As an extremely cultural event, it includes traditions from the Caribbean, African, and European cultures. The festival mostly takes place in June, with its grand finale held on July 4th. At that time, attendees are treated to a parade and a fireworks display.

Visiting the Virgin Islands is about much more than just soaking up the sun. Its cultural events and celebrations make it a worthwhile place to visit.
