Some people consider the fall season the perfect time to go on vacation. Summer travel is over, and holiday travel has not started yet, so popular destinations aren’t as crowded anymore. Of all the places to vacation in the fall, there are four that most travelers would consider the best.

Grand Canyon
The beauty of the Grand Canyon is enhanced by fall foliage and the lack of tourists. Since Arizona can get very hot during the summer, fall is a much more desirable time to visit. It is the most popular time of the year to go on a hike in the area. However, tourists are advised to visit in the early fall to walk or hike the North Rim Trail, as, after that, there is always a chance the trail could be closed in the event of snow. Those that want a more relaxing experience than hiking can ride on the Grand Canyon Railway, where they will see many plants and animals along the way.

Sedona, Arizona
Others travel to Sedona, where they can watch as the leaves of the trees change colors. The area is well-known for its maple, sycamore, and oak trees. Other popular activities include navigating the Cookstove Trail and the Baldwin Trail. Those that visit at the end of October or the beginning of November can attend the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village festival, where a Day of the Dead celebration is held every year.

Yellowstone
Another destination that is ideal for visiting in the fall is Yellowstone. Fall is when the animals that live there are the most active. It is the time of the year when bears are getting ready to hibernate, and visitors may also see eagles and elks. More than just a place to sightsee, There are also activities to participate in, including fishing and biking. Hiking is only easy to do until the middle of October because some roads are closed for the duration of the winter season.

California’s Big Sur
California’s Big Sur is also a popular fall vacation destination. Those who visit during September often spot orcas, as well as humpback and blue whales. In Andrew Molera State Park, it is easy to see numerous butterflies throughout October, as the butterflies are returning to a warm location until winter is over.
